Maples Thanked by College
18th April 2011Maples Thanked by College
As part of our commitment to the local Community, Daven Naghen, one of the Partners in our firm, attended Spalding Magistrates Court to assist The Peele Community College in preparing for the Mock Trials Competition.
The students visited Spalding Magistrates Court and Mr Naghen assisted the pupils in their analysis of the case and presentation of their arguments to the Court.
A letter of thanks was recieved from Assistant Headteacher Stuart Morrow confirming that in the competition the students “did themselves proud with some highly credible performances. Whilst we did not win on the day we held our own and really came across very polished winning one case and narrowly losing another case. The overall experience gained by the students was superb and we are incredibly grateful for your guidance and input with the prosecution and defence cases.”
Commenting on the matter Mr Naghen indicated “It was pleasing to see that the students had got a good grip on the relevant law in respect of Common Assault and that they were not diverted away from the real issues in the case by mention in the paperwork of self-defence. Hopefully the ability to get up and speak in front of other people is a skill and an experience that all of the students will benefit from whatever careers they ultimately pursue. I would echo the sentiments of Mr Morrow that all the students involved should be proud of their work.”
